Distraction: The Invisible Danger on the Road
How the CO-DRIVER makes up for what traditional speed cameras miss
Speed cameras are meant to get drivers to slow down. And in places like schools, daycare zones or known accident hotspots, they absolutely make sense.
But most speed cameras have one major flaw: they only measure how fast you're going.
What they miss is distraction – which, according to studies, is now one of the leading causes of accidents on the road.
Distraction Cause No. 1: Smartphones
According to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, distraction at the wheel caused 7,358 injury-related accidents in 2022. In 1,095 of those, the use of smartphones or other devices played a direct role. 102 people lost their lives.
And the actual number is likely much higher.
After all – who wants to admit they were more focused on finding the perfect song than on what was happening on the road?
Warnings before it’s too late
This is where the CO-DRIVER comes in.
It alerts you with light and sound when you're approaching a speed camera – snapping your attention back to the road. Even when you're driving at the right speed, but your eyes are still on your screen or your mind is somewhere else.
More than just a speed camera alert
The CO-DRIVER doesn’t stop at cameras.
It also warns you of real dangers – like traffic jams ahead, which frequently lead to serious, often fatal, rear-end collisions. In 2023 alone, more than 13,800 people in Germany were injured in such crashes, many of them on highways.
Breakdowns and construction zones are also common causes of accidents. And here too, distraction is often the reason why drivers react too late – or not at all.
